Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups buttermilk
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
8 slices ham
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Pour in the buttermilk and mix until just combined. The dough will be sticky.
Pour half of the melted butter into an 8×8-inch baking dish, making sure to coat the bottom evenly.
Spread half of the dough into the buttered dish, creating an even layer.
Place the ham slices on top of the dough, followed by an even layer of shredded cheddar cheese.
Top with the remaining biscuit dough, spreading it carefully over the cheese and ham layer.
Pour the remaining melted butter over the top of the dough.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
Garnish with fresh chives before serving.
