Long John Silver’s Fish Batter Recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 cup cold water
Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions:
Prepare Oil: Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder until well combined.
Add Water: Slowly add cold water to the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms. The batter should be slightly thick but not too runny.
Coat the Fish: Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. Dip each piece into the batter, coating it completely.
Fry the Fish: Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Drain and Serve: Remove the fish from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Enjoy your crispy, golden fish fillets!
