Pillow-Soft and Buttery Cloverleaf Rolls

Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 and 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

1/4 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup warm milk

1/4 cup warm water

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

Directions

Activate the yeast. In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.

Prepare the dough. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the warm milk, melted butter, egg, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1 and a half hours until doubled in size.

Shape the rolls. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into three small balls. Grease a muffin tin and place three dough balls in each cup to form the cloverleaf shape.

Second rise. Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for another 30 to 45 minutes until puffy.

Bake. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit or 190 degrees Celsius. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Butter and serve. Immediately brush the hot rolls with melted butter. Serve warm and enjoy.
