Creamy Penne Pasta with Spinach, Italian Sausage, and Parmesan

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound Italian sausage (halal beef or chicken sausage), casings removed
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cups fresh spinach
2 cups penne pasta
3 cups chicken broth (halal)
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Directions:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add Italian sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces with a spoon.
Add onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
Stir in fresh spinach and cook until wilted.
Add penne pasta, chicken broth, heavy cream, Italian seasoning, red chili flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and the sauce has thickened.
Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.
