Ingredients:
1 lb ground sausage (or ground pork/beef mix)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup onion, finely diced
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tsp fennel seeds
1/2 tsp ground pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 egg (for brushing the pastry)
2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
Sesame seeds or poppy seeds for topping (optional)
Instructions:
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2️⃣ In a large bowl, mix together the sausage, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, fennel seeds, pepper, salt, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
3️⃣ Cut each sheet of puff pastry in half. Divide the sausage mixture evenly between the four pieces, placing the mixture along the long side of each pastry sheet.
4️⃣ Roll the pastry over the sausage mixture, making sure the seam is on the bottom.
5️⃣ Brush each roll with a beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds.
6️⃣ Cut each roll into smaller pieces (3-4 per roll) and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
7️⃣ Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the sausage is cooked through.
Optional Dipping Sauce: Serve with ketchup, BBQ sauce, or a tangy relish for that extra Aussie vibe!
