Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese slices)
2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
1 egg (for egg wash)
Directions:
Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cook the beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and cook until translucent. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat and stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Set aside to cool slightly.
Assemble the pockets: Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface. Cut each sheet into four squares. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each square, top with cheddar cheese.
Fold and seal: Fold the pastry over the filling to create a triangle or rectangle. Press the edges together and crimp with a fork to seal.
Egg wash: Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the pockets for a golden finish.
Bake: Place the pockets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
Serve: Let the pockets cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce!
