Ingredients:
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Sauté the Garlic
In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, but not browned.
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Pour the crushed tomatoes into the saucepan with the garlic. Add the dried oregano, basil, sugar if using, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
Simmer the Sauce
Reduce the heat to a gentle simmer and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the flavors come together.
Taste and Adjust
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed, adding more salt, pepper, or sugar to suit your preference.
Cool and Store
Let the sauce cool slightly before using it on your pizza. Any leftover sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, or frozen for longer storage.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, and enjoy on your favorite pizza.
