Green Bean and Potato Casserole

Ingredients

4 cups fresh green beans, trimmed

4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 cup crispy fried onions (optional for topping)

Directions

Boil the Vegetables
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit or 190 degrees Celsius. In a large pot, boil the green beans and potatoes for 10 to 12 minutes, or until just tender. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Sauce
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then remove from heat.

Assemble the Casserole
In a large baking dish, combine the boiled green beans and potatoes. Pour the cream mixture over them, then sprinkle with cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese.

Bake
Bake uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown. For extra crunch, top with crispy fried onions during the last 5 minutes of baking.

Serve
Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. Enjoy as a side dish or a comforting main course.
