Layered Cheesy Beef and Potato Casserole

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced

1 and 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup

1/2 cup milk

Salt and pepper to taste

Freshly ground black pepper for garnish

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).

In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until fully cooked. Season with salt and pepper. Drain any excess fat.

In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup with milk until smooth.

In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom. Top with half of the beef mixture, then pour half of the soup mixture over it. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and soup mixture.

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes.

Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top, and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish with freshly ground black pepper and serve hot.
