Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk
2 cups apples, peeled and chopped (about 2 medium apples)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
2 Tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until well combined.
Make the Batter: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the chopped apples and walnuts or pecans, if using.
Prepare the Topping: In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar for the topping.
Assemble the Bread: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle with half of the cinnamon sugar mixture. Add the remaining batter on top and finish with the remaining cinnamon sugar.
Bake: Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
Cool and Serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.
