For the Crust:
1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
For the Filling:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 large eggs
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Make the Crust: In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and egg. Mix until well combined, then press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Prepare the Filling: In another large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract, and beat until well combined.
Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until smooth. Fold in the chopped pecans.
Assemble the Cake: Pour the filling over the crust and spread evenly.
Bake: Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly gooey. Be careful not to overbake.
Cool and Serve: Let the cake cool completely before slicing into squares. Enjoy with a glass of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
