Ingredients:
1 loaf of French bread or Italian bread
1 cup cooked ground beef or sausage
1/2 cup diced bell peppers (any color)
1/2 cup diced onions
1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional, for a spicy kick)
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
I. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
II. Slice the loaf of bread horizontally in half and hollow out some of the bread from the center of each half, creating a cavity for the filling.
III. In a large skillet, sauté the diced bell peppers and onions over medium heat until softened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
IV. In a large bowl, mix the cooked ground beef or sausage, sautéed peppers and onions, crumbled bacon, shredded mozzarella, and cheddar cheese. Stir until well combined.
V. Fill the hollowed-out bread halves with the meat and cheese mixture, pressing down gently to pack the filling in.
VI. Place the stuffed bread halves back together and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
VII. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Brush the top of the bread with the seasoned butter.
VIII. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
IX. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
